For further information on any of these ministries, please contact the church office.

Altar Guild: This is a ministry of service which performs the functions of preparing the Altar for worship. The altar guild is made up of several teams which take turns preparing the altar for Sundays, week days and any special services.

Acolytes: Acolytes assist in the order of service by leading processions and helping at the Altar.  The acolytes are typically young people ages 10 through high school. As a small church we also encourage older acolytes to also become lay readers.  When a Senior in HS the acolyte may also be trained as a Eucharistic minister.  Acolytes may continue on past high school.

Eucharistic Ministers: We have two categories of eucharistic ministers. Some eucharistic ministers offer the chalice during Holy Communion. Other eucharistic ministers are trained to take the consecrated elements to those who are ill or otherwise unable to attend worship.  Eucharistic ministers are baptized and confirmed, aged 16 and older.

Lay Lectors: Lectors assist during worship by reading the appointed lessons. Lectors are typically baptized adults or young adults who may or may not be Confirmed.

Litanists: Litanists are lay lectors who lead our prayers during worship.

Cemetery Committee: This committee is responsible for maintaining St. Christopher’s cemetery and operating the cemetery according to the rules and regulations set forth by the vestry.  St. Christopher’s also has a Columbarium.  Cemetery plots and niches are available to members and may be purchased by contacting the committee chairman or the church office.

Communication and Publicity: Along with this website, St. Christopher’s also publishes a monthly newsletter called “The Spirit”, which is distributed both by mail and by email.  If you wish to be on the mailing list, please contact the church office.  You may also access the Diocese of West Texas at

Daughters of the King (DOK): An international order of women dedicated to prayer and service to God and the Church.  Women receive training and spiritual formation and are commissioned by the Rector of the parish.

Episcopal Church Women (ECW): The ECW meets once each month and is responsible for the Annual Tasting Tea and other church activities, receptions and events. Any and all Episcopalian women are invited to attend.  A women’s study group meets every Thursday (except summertime) at 11:30 am.

Men’s Group:  Men of the church gather each month in the parish Hall. Join us for burgers and fellowship and a chance to meet with friends.

Outreach Committee:  This committee is responsible for allocating church funds set aside to reach beyond our parish and help others in need in our community and around the world.  The church budgets a certain amount each year for this purpose and the committee also holds fund raising events to augment the dollars available for distribution.

Prayer Chain:  Whenever the need for prayer arises in our parish, the prayer chain goes into action.  The prayer chain is a system whereby a web of prayer is spun for those in need.

Ushers:  These volunteers welcome people as they arrive for worship and keep an eye out for newcomers and visitors making sure they feel at home. They also distribute name tags and the morning service leaflet.

Vestry:  The Vestry is the governing body of the parish.  Vestry members are elected to three year terms at the annual Parish Meeting held in January of each year.  To be on the vestry, a member must be a confirmed communicant in good standing.
